What is Cemimax PP5 Patching Compound?

CEMIMAX PP5 is a cementitious rapid repair patching and smoothing compound. Its advanced cement and polymer mix is highly versatile and rapid drying, with fine aggregates that allow installation from a feather edge up to a high fill depth in one application. Superior bonding allows it to be applied over existing concrete, well-bonded flooring and properly prepared substrates without primer in most applications.

Installation

How Cemimax PP5 Patching Compound is applied

Subfloor preparation

The substrate must be sound, dry, clean and free from cracks and any materials that would impair adhesion, including polishes, waxes, grease and asphalt. Test the substrate according to applicable standards. Brush, abrade, grind or shot-blast any weak surface sections, then vacuum thoroughly to remove loose material and dust. Where a primer is needed, select a suitable Cemimax primer for the surface type and allow it to dry thoroughly. If moisture is detected after testing, apply a suitable Cemimax moisture vapor retarder first.

How to apply

Pour 2.5 litres of cold clean water into a clean container. Sprinkle in the 20 kg bag while stirring briskly with a drill fitted with a box or square style paddle mixer. Mix to a thick, creamy and lump-free consistency and do not mix too thinly. Trowel the mixture onto the area, spread uniformly and smooth to a flat finish. If needed while smoothing, apply water to the trowel and not directly to the compound. If the mix becomes too dry it can be re-whipped, but do not add more water. Drying time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes and high depth installations take longer. Protect freshly applied compound from draughts, direct sunlight and direct heat.

It can be applied over properly installed epoxy moisture barriers and PU vapor retarders and is suitable where radiant heat systems are being installed.
