Cemimax PP4 Patching Compound

Cemimax PP4 is a versatile fast drying patching compound for interior substrates. PP4 mixes to a creamy consistency that can be applied from a feather edge to ½” in one application. It can be bonded to a variety of substrates including Concrete, plywood, engineered underlayments. PP4 can also be used over existing well bonded flooring and gypsum (in conjunction with proper Cemimax primer).

Installation

How Cemimax PP4 Patching Compound is applied

Subfloor preparation

The substrate must be sound, dry, clean and free from cracks and any materials that would impair adhesion. Test the substrate according to applicable standards, including moisture testing on concrete. Brush, abrade, grind or shot-blast any weak surface sections, then vacuum thoroughly to remove loose material and dust. Select a suitable Cemimax primer for the surface type and allow it to dry thoroughly. If moisture is detected after testing, apply a suitable Cemimax moisture vapor retarder first.

How to apply

Pour 1.75 to 2 litres of cold clean water into a clean container. Sprinkle in the 10 lb bag while stirring briskly with a drill fitted with a football or oval style paddle mixer. Mix to a thick, viscous and lump-free consistency and do not overwater. Trowel the mixture onto the area, spread uniformly and smooth to a flat finish. If needed while smoothing, apply water to the trowel and not directly to the compound. If the mix becomes too dry it can be re-whipped, but do not add more water. Protect freshly applied compound from draughts, direct sunlight and direct heat.

System integration

CEMIMAX PP4 functions as a rapid repair compound within the Cemimax flooring system, correcting substrate imperfections before the installation of adhesives and final floor coverings. It is used with a suitable Cemimax primer for the surface type and with a Cemimax moisture vapor retarder where moisture is detected.
